WESLACO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The suspect in a Weslaco shooting is facing multiple charges after one person was injured.
Weslaco police responded to the shooting at 5:35 a.m. Sunday, at the 1800 block of W. Corpus Christi Dr.
The investigation indicates that the victim met with an acquaintance on Corpus Drive when an argument broke out.
At the time of the argument, a man proceeded to fire multiple rounds at the victim using a rifle, according to police.
As the victim had attempted to leave the scene, it is believed a firearm was discharged accidentally from inside the vehicle, which resulted in the victim having a gunshot wound.


Authorities executed a search warrant at the residence, where two firearms were found. One of the firearms is believed to have been used during the shooting.
The accused shooter is facing three charges.
- Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon
- Failure to identify
- Possession of a prohibited weapon
