Suspect arrested in Edinburg road rage stabbing incident

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A suspect accused of stabbing a man during a road rage incident is in custody, the Edinburg Police Department announced.

Leobardo Alexis Garcia, 46, is charged with aggravated assault, according to a news release from the Edinburg Police Department.

Shortly before 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 11, a white Ford F-150 and a white Ford Taurus were following each other before coming to a stop near the intersection of 12th Avenue and Samano Street.

Both drivers exited the vehicles and began arguing, according to the news release.

During the dispute, the suspect, identified as Garcia, allegedly took out a knife and stabbed the victim once in the stomach area before taking off north on 12th Avenue.

Police say the victim drove to the Edinburg Police Department to report the incident. Emergency medical services were called immediately, and the victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

At approximately 10:20 p.m., with an active search warrant, officers arrested Garcia at his residence at the 900 block of S. 20th Avenue.

Garcia was taken into custody without further incident.
