EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The city of Edinburg has been named as a top city where millennial earnings are among the highest in the U.S.
A recent study by SmartAsset evaluated 357 of the largest U.S. cities to determine where adults born between 1981 and 1996 are earning the most in relation to the local population.
Of all the cities studied, Edinburg was ranked 7th and is the only city in Texas to make the list.
According to the study, millennials across the U.S. earn an average premium of 8.8% in large cities.
The study shows that Edinburg millennials earn 32.23% more than the city's median household income of $59,851.
The median millennial household income averages $79,139, the study shows.
"Edinburg continues to attract and retain a young, educated, and ambitious workforce," said Mayor Ramiro Garza Jr. "This recognition is a reflection of our growing opportunities, diverse economy, and the investments we’ve made in making Edinburg a great place to live, work, and raise a family."
