Stolen vehicle found through Apple tracking device, two arrested

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Two suspects were arrested on multiple charges of auto theft, according to the Edinburg Police Department.

Police arrested Edgar Olguin, 21, and Jonathan Moreno, 19, for their involvement in multiple vehicle burglaries and thefts.

Investigators on an auto-theft case were able to locate the two suspects after a pair of AirPods left inside the vehicle were traced to a residence on the 7500 block of Flamingo St. Edinburg.

Law enforcement arrived to the scene and searched the residence. Police recovered several stolen items including a firearms.

Investigators have linked the case to an active investigation allegedly involving more than a dozen vehicle burglaries and multiple stolen vehicles.

Both suspects are facing charges of possession of marijuana, approximately 15 counts of burglary of a vehicle, seven counts of auto theft and one count of theft of a firearm.  

The Edinburg Police Department encourages residents to take precaution such as removing valuables from vehicles to help prevent theft.
