STHS shares summer safety tips at annual expo

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The annual Safe Summer Expo at South Texas Health System Children's aims to educate children and parents on safety measures during the summer.

The event will address the increased risk of injuries and illnesses among children, with about a million kids visiting ERs annually and 30% of ER visits being those under 17, particularly for bicycle and pool injuries.

The expo features various safety tips from local organizations, including gun safety, online safety, and heat-related illness prevention.

Activities include arts and crafts, interactive games, and fire safety demonstrations. The event is free and open to all.
