EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — South Texas Health System Children's and Spirit Halloween are kicking off the "Spirit of Children" fundraising campaign.

During the campaign, a portion of proceeds from the sale of Halloween costumes, accessories, and decor goes to funding uplifting experiences in children's hospitals nationwide, including STHS Children's in Edinburg.

"Through Spirit of Children, we bring that party to them. The fun of Halloween that we have here in the store gets to be into the hospital," said Whitney Thompson, Rio Grande Valley Spirit Halloween District Manager. 'We bring costumes for the kids to pick out, we do face painting, activities and their parents and siblings also get to participate in this."

In 2023, Spirit of Children raised $63,187 locally through five Spirit Halloween stores in Brownsville, Harlingen, Weslaco and McAllen, a 10% increase from the previous year.
