EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — South Texas Health System Behavioral hosted a special event Wednesday to show the public its new immersive and interactive gaming wall.
Across its various forms of therapy, South Texas Health System Behavioral utilizes tools and techniques to help patients work through emotional, behavioral and physical issues.
Mental health care is important to the employees of STHS Behavioral and their goal is to create effective strategies to promote and restore mental health.
This new gaming wall does just that. With a unique setting that promotes physical health while significantly impacting mental well-being, the augmented reality technology is turning blank spaces into virtual playgrounds for patients.
At the same time they are also encouraging active play, which triggers the release of endorphins, the body's natural stress relievers.
"The L Interactive Playground is more than a projector system. It's an incredible technological advancement that stimulates the body and the mind with the ability to turn any space into an engaging environment," says Jessica Becker, Chief Executive Officer, STHS Behavioral. "By combining tools to promote physical and mental health, the L Interactive Playground boosts social-emotional skills while delivering an engaging audio and visual experience, leading to improved mental health through physical activity."
