STC’s Carlos Margo gives overview of apprenticeship programs

MCALLEN, Texas – South Texas Manufacturers Association members heard about apprenticeship programs at their most recent monthly meeting, held at the Doubletree Suites by Hilton in McAllen. 

The presentation was made by Dr. Carlos Margo, dean of Industry Training & Economic Development at South Texas College.

Margo gave an overview apprenticeship programs, including: 

·       What is apprenticeship?

·       Components of Apprenticeship Programs

·       Internal vs Department of Labor Sponsored Programs

·       Challenges/Opportunities in Manufacturing Sector

·       How to Develop an Apprenticeship Program

·       Benefits of Apprenticeship Training

·       Best Practices

Mike Willis, executive director of STMA, spoke about his group’s involvement in apprenticeship programs and introduced Margo.
