BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The City of Brownsville on Thursday announced it has been designated as a tourism-friendly city by the Texas Economic Development & Tourism Office.
The designation highlights Brownsville's vibrant cultural scene, rich history, ecotourism attractions like the resaca trails and nature centers, and major landmarks, including the Mitte Cultural District and the Gulf Coast.
"I think it's just a reflection of what we're doing, the teamwork that we have, and just the attitude that we have towards being a very friendly city to not only everyone that's here, but everyone that's coming to visit. We have great things to offer here, from our zoo to now with SpaceX launches," said Mayor John Cowen Jr.
The designation also recognized Brownsville's access to state-level tourism marketing programs, funding opportunities, and industry partnerships.
