SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Lane closures and delays are underway in preparation for the 41st Annual Causeway Run.
Departments in Port Isabel and South Padre Island will assist with traffic control during the event to ensure public safety.
"Public safety is always our number one priority," said Claudine O'Carroll, SPI Chief of Police. "We want to ensure that participants and visitors can enjoy this great annual event."
Event participants will begin at the Port Isabel Community Center and continue towards SPI on the right side eastbound lane on the Queen Isabella Memorial Bridge.
All eastbound traffic will be directed to the left lane during the event using cones and traffic personnel.
Westbound traffic on the causeway will be unaffected.
The run will begin at 7 a.m. Saturday, April 12.
Temporary lane closures are scheduled before and after the event from 6 to 11 a.m. on Saturday.
