MCALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — South Texas Health Systems in McAllen celebrated its recent acquisition of the Da Vinci 5 Robotic Surgical System (DV5).

Thursday's event helped the public understand how the DV5 provides surgeons the opportunity to restore the quality of life to more patients, improve safety and shorten recovery times, including length of stays in hospitals - all while giving surgeons greater precision, flexibility, and control.

"This is one of the most advanced pieces of equipment in healthcare at the moment," says Emma Montes-Ewing, Chief Executive Officer, STHS McAllen. "We exist to serve our patients and address the needs of our community. This is just one tool that we can offer our surgeons to take patient care to the next level. They already do amazing work, but adding the DV5 to their toolkit just means we're getting the best possible patient outcomes."

South Texas Health System McAllen is enhancing its capabilities to navigate complex anatomy and perform advanced surgical procedures with increased precision through innovative robotic systems like the DV5.
