South Texas College breaks ground on new kinesiology center

MCALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — South Texas College broke ground Thursday on a new 16,715-square-foot kinesiology center at the Pecan campus.

The kinesiology center will be located on the north side of the campus, between Buildings M and P. The facility will support students studying kinesiology, fitness, or sports education, and will also serve the college's active intramural sports community.

"This facility, of course, is going to be utilized not just for the students in the health or kinesiology, but it's going to be open for every student from South Texas College, and employees as well," said South Texas College President Ricardo Solis.

The $7 million project will include various facilities, such as classrooms, a computer room, a multi-purpose room, and specialized exercise spaces, with an expected completion date of June 2026.
