MCALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — South Texas College broke ground Monday on its new Continuing Education and Testing Center.
The new 24,500-square-foot building on Pecan Boulevard will include seven classrooms, three computer labs, and two testing centers.
"It has some large classrooms, bigger classrooms," said Olivia De La Rosa, Dean of Continuing Education and Workforce Development. "We have very popular courses such as ESL, GED, real estate, and substitute teaching that we run out of space, and we have to cap enrollment. It's got some computer labs for digital literacy and workforce skills. It is also going to have a room for massage therapy, a program that we're developing, and once the building's set up, we'll start offering massage therapy."
Construction for the building is valued at $7 million and is expected to be completed by May 2026.
