Sombrero Fest prepares for upcoming Charro Days road closures

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — In preparation for the upcoming Charro Days festivities, the City of Brownsville announced several road closures.

The City of Brownsville, alongside the Brownsville Police Department and Sombrero Festival announced, they will close additional streets and alleys around the festival perimeter at Washington Park.

The closures will begin at 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 26, and will reopen at 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 3.

The street closures will be at the Washington Park Area, from E. 6th to E. 9th Street, between E. Monroe and E. Washington Street.

Sombrero Festival will reach out to businesses and homes affected by the perimeter described and will also provide parking passes within one block of Washington Park.

The parking passes will allow them to come up their street and park in front of their homes or driveways.

During the festivities, there will be 20 spaces dedicated to handicapped parking. The spaces will be located on E. Monroe Street and can be accessed through the alley between Monroe and Madison on E. 8th Street.
