Single-vehicle crash leads to power outage and road closure

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A single-vehicle crash caused a power outage near North McColl Road and West University Drive, according to the Edinburg Police Department.

At approximately 3 a.m. on Sunday, authorities responded to the intersection for a car accident.

Authorities say a green pickup struck a utility pole, causing several electrical wires to fall across the roadway in the 600 block of North McColl Road.

For the public's safety, authorities have closed North McColl Road in both directions between West University Drive and Wet Schunior Road.

The crash also resulted in a widespread power outage in the surrounding area.

Utility crews are on the scene and service is expected to be restored within an hour, officials say.
