Showers, thunderstorms likely through Wednesday morning commute

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Today is going to stay mostly dry, though a stray shower influenced along the shore can't be ruled out, under partly to mostly cloudy skies. Humidity factored in to already hot temperatures (mid 90s to low 100s) will create temperatures that feel like between 100-110°.

There is an area of low pressure currently set up near Arizona/ New Mexico. This feature will shift east across the state of Texas during the day, influencing a line of showers and thunderstorms. Given the data this morning, that line will push through the Valley during the morning hours on Wednesday.

Along with heavy rain, thunder, and lightning, given the atmospheric conditions, a few storms could become severe. Damaging wind gusts (up to 60mph) are the primary threats, but locally heavy rainfall may result in minor flooding issues. This activity is expected to reach northern Starr County around 4 a.m. Wednesday, dropping off in intensity and coverage as it moves into Hidalgo County around 8 a.m.

With that said, isolated showers remain on the table for the rest of the Valley through the day, with daily activity persisting into the weekend.
