Sheriff’s office investigating Donna shooting; one detained

The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office has detained a person of interest amid its investigation of a Sunday shooting in Donna. 

According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to a residence in the 13000 block of Hermosa Vida Drive in rural Donna at about 3:08 p.m. Sunday in reference to a shooting. 

“Deputies discovered the body of a 20-year-old Hispanic male inside a vehicle on the property, who appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound,” the release stated. “One person of interest has been detained for questioning.”

The sheriff’s office also said investigators are currently on the scene speaking with witnesses and gathering evidence.
