Sheriff's office identifies man accused of stabbing woman during verbal argument

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man who reportedly stabbed a woman during a verbal argument on Tuesday.

According to the sheriff's office, 22-year-old Luis Gonzalez Jr. is accused of stabbing a woman near the 2200 block of Laguna Seca Rd. in rural Edinburg.

During the attempted arrest, Gonzalez resisted and left the scene in a witness’ vehicle, injuring the vehicle owner and prompting a pursuit with law enforcement.

Gonzales was later apprehended and taken into custody.

The sheriff's office said Gonzalez will go before a Justice of the Peace Thursday afternoon for two counts of aggravated assault.
