HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Food Patrol is spotlighting a sandwich spot during a puro ¡Que Rico! edition.

Here’s what is que rico in this week’s Food 4 Thought!

The Food Patrol surprised the owner of Seymour’s Deli because they aced their July 29 health inspection report, making them this week’s Top Performer.

Seymour’s Deli, located at 2616 N 10th St, McAllen, once had a franchise name, but parted ways to be on its own.

Seymour’s is a new name, but owner Jim Wood is a veteran of the sandwich business.

"This year it’s 40 years. I've been in it for a while," said Wood. "I've been Seymour’s for 2 years a little over two years. Before that, for 38 years, I was a franchise."

Since parting ways with the franchise formula, Seymour’s has kept the cleaning standards while enhancing the quality of the sandwiches.

To get the full effect, customers must take a bite of the bread.

“I like to talk to the first timers after they have eaten their meals. I would say 99.9% of the time, it's a thumbs up," Wood said.

Seymour’s Deli has first-timers and a lot of hungry friends who have stuck by the sandwiches. Wood's community is proud of his Top Performer recognition, which includes a sticker on the door.

And that’s Food 4 Thought!
