HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — It's been a noisy start to the day with isolated showers turning into a line of thunderstorms. This line has brought heavy rain, thunder, lightning, and a few severe thunderstorm warnings. The highest threats we've seen so far this morning have been 70mph wind gusts and quarter-sized hail.
The main line of storms is expected to move southeast, heading into the morning. Here are some safety precautions to take when out on the roadways. Slow down, headlights are a must, heavy rain will limit visibility, so take it easy and factor in extra time heading to your destination.

Once the main line clears, don't put away the rain gear just yet. We're still expecting isolated showers and thunderstorms into part of the afternoon.
Rain coverage remains between 30% to 40% through 4 p.m., when most of the activity is expected to taper off. Storms could reach severe potential, producing golf ball-sized hail and up to 60mph wind gusts.
