Second gator spotted in Cameron County

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — An alligator was spotted in the Dixieland Reservoir, Harlingen Waterworks officials say.

Harlingen Waterworks took to social media to advise residents of a gator. The city said several attempts have been made to capture it but have been unsuccessful.

Harlingen City officials say late spring through summer is alligator mating and nesting season, making the animals more active and visible.

Texas Parks and Wildlife advises residents to not make any contact and not feed gators.

Officials say the gator may not pose any immediate threat or danger, but it is highly advised to take precautions.
