Scam alert: City of McAllen fraud emails circulating

MCALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The City of McAllen is alerting residents of an ongoing scam.

City officials say scammers are impersonating the McAllen Development Services staff to target permit applicants, contractors and business owners.

According to the city, the scam emails request payments or deposits with links that could put personal information at risk.

Officials say the city will never send invoices or ask for payments via email.
