SBA opens centers across RGV

WESLACO, Texas (ValleyCentral)  — The U.S. Small Business Administration announced the opening of recovery centers across the Rio Grande Valley to assist residents impacted by the floods that occurred in March.

SBA customer service representatives started assisting with the disaster loan application process on May 30.

SBA loans help Valley community recover from March flood

Applicants are encouraged to bring the following documents to help their process:

  • Driver's License
  • Tax Return documents
  • Any documentation of damages (pictures, videos or receipts)

Businesses and nonprofits are eligible to apply for business physical disaster loans. They may borrow up to $2 million to repair or replace disaster-damaged or destroyed real estate, machinery, equipment, inventory and other business assets.

Homeowners and renters are eligible to apply for home and personal property loans and may borrow up to $100,000 to replace or repair personal property. This includes clothing, furniture, cars and appliances.

Additionally, homeowners may apply for up to $500,000 to replace or repair their primary residence.

People who are hearing impaired or have a speech disability can contact 7-1-1 to access telecommunications relay services.

The deadline to request disaster loan applications is July 21.
