San Juan City Commission Meeting Agenda Analysis

The San Juan City Commission will be holding a regular meeting on January 13, 2026, at 6:00 PM at the San Juan Memorial Library. The meeting will begin with a call to order, followed by an invocation and the pledge of allegiance. The public will then have the opportunity to provide comments.

Presentations

will be made by Perdue Brandon Fielder Collins & Mott LLP, who will be presenting the Collection Report for October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2025. Additionally, various departmental reports will be presented, including those from the Department of Planning and Zoning, Department of Parks and Recreation, Department of Sanitation, San Juan Memorial Library, Department of Finance, Fire Department, Police Department, Municipal Court, and Department of Utilities.

Public Hearing and Ordinances

will also be considered, including an ordinance amending Chapter 13 Utilities, Article 13.02, Solid Waste and Stormwater Pollution Prevention. The city commission will also be considering appointments, including the appointment of a representative and alternate for the Amigos Del Valle Board of Directors and the removal, appointment, or reappointment of board members related to the Miss San Juan Pageant Board and the Keep San Juan Beautiful Board.

Discussion and Possible Action

will be taken on various matters, including authorizing the city manager to approve a budget amendment to increase the San Juan Fire Department's other equipment account. The city commission will also be considering contractual agreements, including a memorandum of understanding between the San Juan Police Department and First Line Response.

Resolutions

will be considered, including a resolution approving the FY 2026 final workplan for the Hidalgo County Urban County Program and a resolution authorizing the city of San Juan to accept various grants. The meeting will conclude with an executive session to discuss legal matters and personnel issues, followed by a reconvening of the city commission to take necessary action.
