San Benito Police host back to school drive

SAN BENITO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — It is less than three weeks before the start of the school year at San Benito CISD, and the city's police made sure families are prepared.

The police department on Wednesday hosted a supply drive at Walmart, collecting all the items students need for a successful year.

"We try to do it every year just to give back to the community, to make sure that these kids are ready for school, so that they can excel every day. We're trying to make it more of an annual thing, and we encourage everybody to come by and donate every time they come," said Officer Adrian Rodriguez, San Benito Police Department.

If you missed Wednesday's drive, school supplies are still being accepted at the police department located at 601 N. Oscar Williams Rd.
