SAN BENITO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The San Benito Consolidated Independent School District Bus Transportation department is experiencing challenges regarding access to regular bus pick-up and drop-off routes.

In response to this issue, the school district is providing modified pick-up locations in close proximity to the affected area.

Route 28, also known as Hackberry Road will remain inaccessible for transportation.

Authorities say they anticipate the road will be fully operational on Friday.

In response to the recent rainfall that caused much of the community to flood, the Family and Community Engagement Department is collecting needed donations at its building, located at the Landrum Education Complex at 450 S. Dick Dowling Street in San Benito.

The office photo number is (956) 361-6310.

Additionally, the department is conducting assessments for the McKinney Vento Homeless Program, a federal government initiative that helps identify and support students experiencing homelessness.

San Benito CISD says it will continue to share outreach information on its social media platforms. The Cameron County Emergency Management Service, the American Red Cross, and the Salvation Army are providing some of the outreach services.
