BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS – Eleazar Rodriguez is director of industrial park development and special projects for the Greater Brownsville Incentives Corporation.
Rodriguez was praised recently for being the “brains” behind the eagerly anticipated Greater Brownsville Tech District, a 770-acre property that GBIC is developing in phases to attract manufacturing in the space, energy and high tech sectors.
At a groundbreaking ceremony for the first 86 acres of the project, GBIC CEO Gilberto Salinas said of Rodriguez: “He’s the brainchild behind this. He is the one that’s made this happen.”
Salinas continued: “And he (Rodriguez) is super passionate about what he does. And what I love about him is that he’s passionate about Brownsville, he speaks from the heart, and he’s just a nerd. He’s just a nerd, and I love that you about him.”
In his remarks from the podium, Rodriguez said he was pleased GBIC was finally able to break ground on the Greater Brownsville Tech District.
“This is a project I have been lucky to work on from the very beginning, from sketches, side plans, infrastructure, design, to coordinate the many moving pieces and to see it all come together with so much support from the community is a proud moment. This park was built with a clear purpose, to attract industry to Brownsville and create jobs for the people who live here,” Rodriguez said.
“Every piece of this project was designed with that goal in mind. We want companies to look at the site and know they can grow here, invest here, and be part of something for the long term. We are building more than just an industrial park. We’re building a place where opportunity can grow, where our local workforce can thrive, and where new businesses can take root and make Brownsville home.”
