MISSION, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A portion of Bryan Road in Mission will be under construction until next year as part of the city's effort to improve public safety.

The improvement project will focus on road reconstruction on Bryan Road between FM 495 and Business 83.

"This project is going to be three lanes, one lane in each direction, with the left turn lane. Also, we're going to have sidewalks on both sides of the roadway," said Juan Pablo Terrazas, Co-Interim Mission City Manager.

The project will also focus on drainage improvements following reports of water and sewer lines breaking daily.

"We're excavating a detention pond because we have suffered some flooding in that area. So to alleviate some of the drainage problems that we have, we're incorporating that drainage project into this Bryan Road construction," Terrazas continued.

The City of Mission has met with local school officials to coordinate student drop-offs and pick-ups in the construction area.

The city has also sent out notices to residents surrounding the improvement project.

City leaders anticipate the project will be complete by summer 2026.

"Our mayor and council had invested a lot of money in this project, and hopefully and fortunately, we were able to put it to fruition, and we'll see the results in a year. So we're asking our public, traveling public, to be patient, that it'll be a nice project at the end," Terrazas said.

Construction work will be active Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon.
