Road closures planned for Edinburg parking garage construction

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) —  Construction is set to begin for the City of Edinburg's new downtown parking garage.

The City of Edinburg is reminding its residents to schedule alternate routes due to the upcoming road closures for the construction of its new parking garage at McIntyre St. & N. Closner Blvd..

According to a news release from city officials, the lot will close on Nov. 5 and work crews will begin on Nov. 6.

City officials remind the public that one southbound lane of N. Closner Boulevard, part of W. Kuhn St., and the sidewalk in front of the site will be closed. 

Additionally, pedestrian traffic will be rerouted to N. 10th Avenue and signs will be posted for guidance.

Those who are scheduled as jurors or are visitors may park in Lots L2 and L3 on N. Closner Blvd. or in Lots A2 and A3 with free Valley Metro shuttle service.

The project is estimated to be complete by Oct. 15, 2026.
