Road closure, repairs scheduled for west McAllen

MCALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A roadway in McAllen will be temporarily closed off starting Tuesday night for overnight repairs.

The Texas Department of Transportation announced that Mile 5 Road will be closed to through traffic between Ware Road and Bentsen Road from 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, to 6 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1.

McAllen Public Utility crews will address a new sanitary sewer line in the area.

A temporary alternate route will be available for drivers traveling westbound on Mile 5.

Drivers impacted by the westbound roadwork can follow the alternate route along southbound Ware Road to Mile 3 (Buddy Owens Boulevard) and then continue westbound on Shary Road.

Traffic delays are expected.
