Riofest returning to Harlingen in September, lineup announced

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The City of Harlingen announced the return of Riofest, the city's most anticipated festival of the year.

Riofest is an annual festival that was launched in 1982 to showcase local art in various forms, including music and dance.

Riofest 2025 was officially announced Thursday morning.

"There's going to be so much fun for the entire family," said Harlingen Mayor Norma Sepulveda.

This year's festival will feature family-friendly activities, a food and beer garden, an art gallery, and live entertainment with several bands headlining the event.

"Harlingen has just become a music-friendly city, and so we have a goal of just giving a platform to our local artists," Sepulveda continued. "It's just it's going to be a lot of fun."

Riofest 2025 will kick off at 5 p.m., Friday, Sept. 26, at the Harlingen Baseball Field. The festivities will continue on Saturday, Sept. 27, at noon.

One-day and two-day passes will be available on the Riofest website.

Veterans and children under 13 will receive free admission.
