HOUSTON, Texas – RioPlex has shared with the public the slides its executive director, Mario Reyna, unveiled at its big conference in Houston.
The Texas Port to the Stars Foreign Direct Investment Summit was held at the Westin Galleria in Houston on April 9th and 10th.
Reyna used the slides to help tell the story of RioPlex and what the group’s plans are to help market the Rio Grande Valley and northern Tamaulipas.
“Real Plex is real. RioPlex will be the gateway to the future,” Reyna said.
“You know, there’s a great brand in the world that we all know. It’s called Coca Cola. You know, Coca Cola was started in 1886 and when it started, it had a deficit. It did not make any money. You can go anywhere in the world, even the Sahara Desert, and you will find a can of Coca Cola. So RioPlex is designed for growth, just like Coca Cola, and RioPlex is going to be seen all over the world in the coming future.”

Story continued:
Reyna said RioPlex is located in a unique part of North America.
“We have so much, but the world needs to know where we are, and that’s the purpose of RioPlex. Soon they (potential investors) will know that we are in the middle of the North American continent.”
Reyna said RioPlex came about through lots of conversations in many cities around the region.
“We have to believe that we can make our region the best industrial and business area for anyone that wants to come to our region, and we will promote RioPlex to the rest of the world,” he said.
A great reason to hold the summit in Houston, Reyna said, is that it is home to many foreign consulate offices. More than a dozen were represented at the summit.
“We have consulates from different countries that are here to listen to our presentation. I want you to know that RioPlex is going to pay lots of dividends.”
Reyna asked those in the audience to image two continental plates hitting each other.
“So what happens when two continental plates hit each other? Things go up,” he said.
That is what happened in the Himalayas, Reyna said.
“What’s going to happen to RioPlex is we will go up because we are at the center of the North American continent.”
Reyna said NAFTA was created because the leaders of North America at the time knew the continent would have to compete with Europe and Asia.
“What is unique about our location is that all those economies that are being played right now, RioPlex is in the middle of it. And whenever you have so much integration, so much merging, we’re going to get the benefits of all this interaction.”
