Reshared online threat prompts additional police presence on Edinburg middle school

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District has issued an additional police presence on Memorial Middle School after a social media threat was reshared online.

According to police, authorities were informed about the threat when a parent made a report Friday morning.

Authorities say the social media threat was one that the school police were already aware of from a previous date. However, the threat was apparently reshared, prompting parents to become concerned.

Out of an abundance of caution, the Edinburg Police Department placed additional units at the middle school.
