Remains of missing sailor found dead in Virginia returning to Valley

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The remains of Angelina Resendiz, a U.S. Navy sailor whose body was found in Virginia, will return to the Rio Grande Valley on Friday.

Resendiz, 21, was reported missing from Naval Station Norfolk on May 29.

A multi-agency search for Resendiz came to a close after Resendiz's body was found two weeks after she went missing.

Resendiz's mother, Esmerelda Castle, from Brownsville, says she and her family will remain unwavering in their pursuit of justice.

The seaman's remains will arrive at Valley International Airport in Harlingen at 8 p.m., Friday, June 20.

She will be received with full military honors.

The Resendiz family invites the public to honor Angelina's service and sacrifice.
