EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Administrators and leaders at Region One Education Service Center gathered on Thursday to host a Regional Performance Public Hearing.
The hearing focused on the performance of all schools, districts, and charters within Region One.
"We're held accountable to see that our districts are performing well and that they're moving in a good direction, primarily in student performance," said Daniel King, Executive Director of Region One.
Region One provides technical assistance to educators in South Texas through workshops and development initiatives.
Services are offered to 37 school districts and 10 charter systems in South Texas, including all school districts in the Rio Grande Valley.
"We're very fortunate that this region, our districts, our school systems really work together, partner together. We have a strong partnership with them," King said. "We're very proud that our region, all in all, tends to outperform the state in student performance."
King says that Region One will continue to excel as the state raises expectations for student performance.
"Part of what we do is make sure that the instruction is high quality, that it's at the right level of rigor, and it's challenging for the students," King continued. "Our job is to partner with our districts and our campuses to get better at that."
