EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Region One has officially partnered with Hidalgo County to launch a dropout recovery program for adults who have not completed high school.
The program will allow adults ages 18 through 26 a second chance at education to earn their diploma.
"We want to improve the quality of life in this county, and we also want to break the cycle of poverty. Education is one of the key things in a family that breaks multi-generational poverty," said Daniel King, Executive Director at Region One.
Adults who join the program will have the opportunity to complete their secondary education at Weslaco, Edcouch-Elsa, and PSJA school districts.
Weslaco, Edcouch-Elsa and PSJA school districts will join Region One to welcome adults to the program.
