HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Region One Education Service Center is enhancing college readiness for high school students through the Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSIA), a critical tool for determining college readiness in reading, writing, and math.
The TSIA is part of a broader set of assessments, including the TSI, ACT, and SAT, designed to evaluate a student's preparedness for college-level coursework. Region One has established a college readiness team dedicated to providing tutorials and testing services to help students succeed in these assessments.
Services are offered at the Pharr Memorial Library and the Landrum Education Complex in San Benito. There, they conduct full-day sessions of tutorials and testing once a month. Students can choose their content area and receive support through hands-on activities and test-taking skills.
The cost for participating in both tutorials and testing is $100, while testing alone costs $40. After taking the exam, students receive a score report, which helps identify areas needing improvement.
Region One then provides lessons and resources to address these needs. In addition, Region One supports adult learners and families, emphasizing its commitment to helping all test-takers achieve their educational goals.
Interested individuals can sign up through the Region One website, where they can find information on upcoming sessions and registration forms.
