EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Region One hosted an event Thursday to celebrate school districts participating in a statewide Teacher Incentive Allotment Program (TIA).

According to the Texas Education Agency, TIA is a program that provides top-performing teachers an accessible pathway to a six-figure salary.

Participating schools receive an annual allotment for each eligible designated teacher they employ and may use funds to incentivize high-performing teachers.

"TIA is to support, to reward, and recruit all our teachers in terms of effective teaching that is occurring in our region," said Region One Coordinator Clarita Corpus.

On Thursday morning, school administrators reflected on their TIA successes and shared best practices at the event.

"At this moment in time, we're already at 94% in designation of teachers with data validation, and in terms of participation of our rural cohorts, rural school districts, we're almost close to 100%," Corpus said. "So with that, we wanted to end the year with a bang, with our celebration for their hard work."
