Sharyland High had its best day at the UIL State Tennis Tournament in school history.
The Rattlers brought back bronze medals in girls and boys doubles while also capturing a silver medal as Valley tennis athletes competed on Thursday and Friday in San Antonio.

The Class 5A silver medal went to Shyrabelle Buquel and Koen Aggarao in mixed doubles. They had a bye in the opening round and then lost the first set 6-3 to a team from Frisco Centennial, but came back to win the next two sets 7-5 and 6-2.
Buquel and Aggarao then won another three-set match in the semifinals to set up a chance at gold where they would end up falling to a mixed double team from Frisco Lebanon.
Sharyland High grabbed bronze medals in both boys and girls doubles.

Sofia Cantu and Selah Geddes started strong in the opening round by winning in two sets against a team from Lubbock Cooper and then again versus a pair from Georgetown to guarantee themselves at least bronze.
Eduardo Gonzalez and Diego Sanchez had a bye in the opening round. They then took down two brothers from Corsicana in three sets to ensure their bronze.
Sharyland High sent two teams in mixed doubles. Andres Garcia and Grace Shawn, the other pair, lost in the round of 16 in three sets.
No other program in RGV history has sent eight athletes to the tennis state tourney.
McAllen High’s Eduardo Pastor qualified in boys singles. Pastor had a bye to start and would fall in the next round in two sets to Manas Kondapalli from Frisco Independence.
McAllen Memorial’s Dania Casas also had a bye and also lost in the quarterfinals in two sets. Casas lost 6-1, 6-4 to Tyler’s Khloe Wade.
The Valley had some representatives in lower classifications.
