SAN JUAN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The PSJA ISD and Hidalgo County Precinct 2 unveiled plans for a new community wellness complex.
The announcement on Wednesday was made during the district's 2025 Community Challenge Victory Celebration, which celebrated its 7th consecutive win in the Large School District Category of the Healthier Texas Challenge.
"We've always been into wellness. We know the importance of wellness. We know the importance of relieving stress, mental health," said Hidalgo County Commissioner PCT. 2 Eddie Cantu. "All of that comes from working out, and obviously, PSJA ISD is very in tune with that. This is their seventh year, getting number one in a wellness initiative. They're an easy partner, and together, we've done so much for the wellness of our community."
Completion is scheduled for the summer. The renovated outdoor complex will feature eight pickleball courts, a tennis court, and outdoor fitness stations, supporting active lifestyles and expanding health and wellness opportunities for students and the surrounding community.
