Port Isabel PD investigate fatal auto-ped accident

PORT ISABEL, Texas (ValleyCentral) — One person is dead after being struck by a car in Port Isabel Tuesday morning.

Port Isabel police are investigating the tragic auto-pedestrian crash that occurred at 7:45 a.m. Tuesday at the 400 block of N. Yturria Street.

A preliminary report stated that a red F-150 truck struck a person. Local law enforcement and EMS promptly responded to the accidents and transported the woman struck to Valley Regional Hospital in Brownsville for treatment.

Authorities say she sustained critical injuries.

The driver of the F-150 did stop to render aid and is cooperating with the investigation.

Later that day, the woman died from her injuries.

Port Isabel Police say they are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and are committed to uncovering the facts.

"We extend our thoughts and prayers to the pedestrian and their family during this difficult time. The safety of our community is our top priority, and we urge all drivers and pedestrians to remain vigilant and cautious while on the road," the police department stated online.
