Police: Teen threatens to 'shoot up' Elsa middle school

ELSA, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A student at Truan Junior High School in Elsa was arrested for allegedly making threats to "shoot up the school."

The alleged threat was reported to the Elsa school administration after school on Thursday, April 10, and passed on to the Elsa Police Department the next school day.

During an investigation, authorities discovered the 13-year-old student had already been interviewed by school officials, placed on suspension and released to his parents.

Further investigation determined the teen made similar threats several times throughout the day on April 10.

The release added that school personnel expressed concerns that the teen would pose a credible threat to the safety of students and staff.

The student was arrested Tuesday afternoon and charged with a terroristic threat causing fear of imminent serious bodily injury.

He has been remanded to the Hidalgo County Juvenile Detention Center.
