Planned Parenthood South Texas to offer free Pap, HPV tests ahead of Dobbs decision anniversary

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Planned Parenthood South Texas will soon offer free screenings at its health centers.

The free screenings will take place on June 24th, marking the third anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

"We're responding to those abortion bans with preventive care for our community, because Latina women are 40% more likely to be diagnosed with cervical cancer," said Nubia Reyna, Senior Manager for Marketing and Public Relations of Planned Parenthood South Texas.

Planned Parenthood South Texas has seven health centers, including two in the Rio Grande Valley.

Community leaders meet to prepare during hurricane season

Screenings will be available between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at all Planned Parenthood South Texas locations.

  • Brownsville, 870 E. Alton Gloor Blvd.
  • Richland Hills, 235 Richland Hills in San Antonio
  • Babcock Medical Center, 2140 Babcock Rd. in San Antonio
  • Southeast, 7022 S. New Braunfels Ave., Ste. 103 in San Antonio
  • Northeast, 11514 Perrin-Beitel Rd. in San Antonio
  • San Pedro, 920 San Pedro Ave. Ste. 100 in San Antonio

Individuals 21 years and older will be eligible for a free Pap smear. HPV testing will be available to individuals who are 25 and older.

No insurance, payment, income, or immigration documentation is required to participate.

Appointments are encouraged and can be made on the Planned Parenthood South Texas website.

Walk-ins are welcome.
