PHARR, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A Pharr man has been charged with producing child pornography after attempting to flee the United States to Mexico with a minor, U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei announced.
Carlo Ivan Hurtado, 26, had a criminal complaint filed against him March 28 detailing how he arrived to the Hidalgo Port of Entry with a teenage girl and tried to cross over to Mexico.
The teenager allegedly left home without her parent's permission. Additionally, the minor reported that she had stayed in a McAllen hotel room with Hurtado and recorded them having sexual relations using Snapchat.
Authorities conducted a search of the teen's phone and found sexually explicit images of she and Hurtado.
If convicted Hurtado faces up to 30 years in federal prison and a possible fine of up to $250,000.
