PHARR, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The City of Pharr and the Pharr International Bridge are rolling in the appreciation for truckers.
Truck Driver Appreciation Week is underway and highlights the important role drivers play in the supply chain and the bridge's reliance on trucking for revenue.
"We've been celebrating it for many years," said Luis Bazan, Director for the Pharr International Bridge. "But it wasn't until about two to three years ago that we started giving out goodie bags. Throughout the week, we're doing something different for our truck drivers in appreciation."
Bazan added that despite challenges like the freight recession and driver shortages, the bridge is showing appreciation with events like "Trucking Thursday" at Top Golf and the second annual Trucking Expo at the Bert Ogden Arena on Sept. 19.
