DONNA, Texas (ValleyCentral) — One person was cited Monday for crashing into a Hidalgo County Sheriff deputy unit.
The crash happened before 7:30 p.m. Monday on the westbound Frontage Road east of FM 493 in Donna.
According to the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office, a deputy was assisting a driver on the side of the frontage when the unit was rear-ended.
At the time of the crash, the deputy had the patrol unit emergency lights activated.
No injuries were reported.
Authorities remind drivers to remain alert when approaching emergency vehicles stopped on the side of the road.
Texas law requires drivers to move over or slow down when passing law enforcement, emergency responders, tow trucks, and other service vehicles with emergency lights activated.
