ALAMO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Alamo police arrested a man after a high-speed chase following an assault with a vehicle.

Juan Lopez is expected to face a "multitude of charges" after allegedly running over a man Tuesday morning, according to the Alamo Police Department.

At 8:15 a.m., police responded to an auto-pedestrian accident at the intersection of FM 495 and Cesar Chavez Road. When they arrived, officers found the victim with "severe injuries to his legs, rendering him unable to walk."

The victim said that the suspect, later identified as Lopez, had intentionally run over his legs with a vehicle after an attempt to repossess a vehicle that was owed, police said.

Officers identified the suspect and used GPS technology within the vehicle to track it down to the 400 block of Cancun Street in San Juan. When police tried contacting Lopez, he fled the scene, leading to a high-speed chase.

The chase led officers on a pursuit through Alamo and into Mercedes before ultimately coming to a stop at the 600 block of Mathis Street in Mercedes.

Police stated that Lopez will face charges including aggravated assault with a motor vehicle, evading arrest on foot and in a motor vehicle, resisting arrest and possession of dangerous drugs.
