PD: Child pronounced dead after drowning at community pool

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Edinburg police are investigating a drowning incident that left one child dead.

At 5 p.m. on Friday, authorities responded to the 1400 block of W. Freddy Gonzalez Dr. where a 6-year-old boy was found unresponsive in the community pool.

At the scene, responding officers immediately started chest compressions, according to a release from the Edinburg Police Department.

Emergency Medical Services arrived at the scene shortly after and transported the child to DHR Health.

On early Saturday morning, the child was pronounced dead.
