PD: 2 teens, minor arrested for possession of firearms in McAllen

McALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Two teens and a minor were arrested for possession of firearms from two separate incidents, McAllen police say.

At 9:25 a.m. on Sept. 6, McAllen police received a report of a social media threat. According to a news release from the McAllen Police Department, the threat was sent on Sept. 5 and its contents showed a teen holding a firearm and threatening the viewer.

The victim received a second social media threat on Sept. 6, which was viewed by officers on-scene. According to police, the video showed a different teen holding the same firearm and threatening the receiver.

Investigators identified the senders as Zamarron and a minor. Police seized the firearm used in the threat a 9mm Masterpiece Defender. At the scene police also found marijuana, THC cartridges, and paraphernalia.

Alan Rolando Zamarron, 17, was charged with terroristic threat, unlawful carrying of weapons, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The minor was arrested and charged with terroristic threat, unlawful carrying weapons, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The minor was transferred to Mario E Ramirez Jr. Juvenile Justice Center.

One dead in Brownsville overnight crash

In the second incident, authorities responded at 6:58 p.m. on Sept. 8 at the 2800 block of Nolana Avenue about a weapon disturbance.

The reporting party notified dispatch that a man was "displaying a firearm in a parking lot." According to a news release, police were able to locate the man, who shortly fled from detention.

The man, identified as 18-year-old Adrian Velasquez, was arrested and a Glock model 22, .40 caliber handgun was found in his possession.

Police say the seized handgun was equipped with a "switch" which turned the handgun into a fully automatic firearm.

Velasquez was charged with evading arrest or detention, resting arrest, search or transport, unlawful carrying weapons, prohibited weapons, fictitious/false driver's license, possession of tobacco product by minor and local municipal court warrant.
