Patridge: How and why Zoho Corporation chose McAllen

MISSION, Texas – Technology company Zoho creates computer software and web-based business tools. Its global headquarters is in Chennai, India.

The company was founded in 1996by Sridhar Vembu and Tony Thomas. Radha Vembu, Sridhar Vembu’s sister, owns a majority stake in the company. It has no external funding.

“We are a state of the art tech company with a very old-fashioned approach to company building,” said Sridhar Vembu, CEO of Zoho Corporation.

Zoho produces 60-plus products for end-to-end enterprise IT management and 55-plus web apps to to help businesses run.

Its products are sold in more than 150 countries and it has 100 million-plus customers around the world.

Zoho has 200-plus channel and technology partners and 15,000 employees in 20-plus offices across 13 countries.

One of those offices is in McAllen, Texas.

Keith Patridge, president and CEO of McAllen Economic Development Corporation, helped recruit Zoho to McAllen. At a recent Rio Grande Valley Partnership 2024 Leadership Class event, held at the Center for Education and Economic Development in Mission, Patridge explained how and why Zoho chose McAllen.
